Just want to say that I love this ship and design. I do wonder if she has a Duplicator on board to make more missiles. Just need to transport raw materials straight from the mines, which is far cheaper… https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Duplicator ALso it may be just me but it looks like the stern hull (the bit behind the missile circle) angles doesn’t match up with the angle of the bow hull. Like if you draw the line following the bow angles it wouldn’t match up with the angles on the stern. But its likely just me being hit with an illusion… Read more »

FractalSponge, another great model, I’m actually a 3D modeler in practice, been self taught for about 2 years. I use Blender, but the models I make somehow don’t seem to be getting the quality of yours, is there any secret to your quality?

Something to checkout guys. Reminds me of the Star Battlecruiser.
We were working from the same references – me for style, Eric directly trying to rebuild the concept.

If this is a collaborative effort between you and that EC guy, I’m very impressed, actually tackling a very obscure piece of Star Wars history. This might top even the Bellator in this case.
Think you can do a blog post dealing with the Incursor Cruiser? Man, talk about a really wasted opportunity to design such a ship and reintroduce it into canon, whether it be for Legends or for DisCanon.
The reference is Colin Cantwell’s prototype model for the Star Destroyer that eventually turned into Devastator. We just used the same image at different times. Eric started this one very recently. I did Procurator, what, last year?

Something to checkout folks. Reminds me of the Star Battlecruiser that was done.
The more I see of this ship the more I like it. I’ve adopted the “Sagittor-class” name for its Republic service as a headcanon by now while “Tyrant-class” is its Imperial designation. When this baby fires a missile salvo it must be a terrifying sight to behold.

Would you consider using the same type of engines from the Compellor-class Star Cruiser and the Procurator? In a different arrangement of course.

The donut of death returns! Seriously though, I’ve always liked the guidance and telemetry antennae you use for missiles batteries.

When someone asks “How many missiles?” The answer should just be “Yes.”

Looks great. Do you plan any lore on it?

Is this based on an existing SW ship?

The bow shot of the Tyrant’s bridge superstructure gives off IJN Pagoda mast vibes, almost as if you were staring down Nagato or Kongo. Given how TIE fighter maneuvers are ripped straight from footage of Zeros, that fits thematically. I still don’t know what I think about that ring though.

I’m starting to wonder if the ring’s an attempt to reduce the risks of a capital-scale ‘cookoff’ by separating the missile batteries from any vital/volatile bits.

I don’t think we know enough about the physics of star wars warheads when unarmed to judge the cookoff risks from being hit, but it seems like Fractal is operating under the idea that these things are far more volatile than say earthbound nuclear warheads. There was a threat on the last Tyrant WIP post about it being roughly analogous to the new Mk 57 VLS used by the USN today on their Zumwalts. Maybe that’s why we don’t really see that many missiles on standard line combatants like Imperators and MC80s.
