This ship is everything that a frigate should be from size to gun placements. It also keeps the imperial look which I really like. Overall this is a really amazing ship.

This is absolutely my favorite ship of yours and probably my 3rd or 2nd favorite capital ship, period.

Jake, if you were confused by the term Frigate, there’s no shame in that. Most of us have been at least a little confused when first encountering Fractal’s (far more sensible than the Anaxes War College) system.
Anything smaller than a Star Destroyer is a Corvette or Frigate depending on precise size and role.
Fractal bases his system on the reasonable idea that Star Destroyers fulfill the same role in galactic navies as Destroyers do in Earth-bound wet navies. By extension, the larger ships would enter cruiser, battlecruiser, dreadnaught categories, etc.
Apologies if you already knew all of this.

No. There is absolutely zero correlation between a star destroyer of any type and a destroyer. Zero. The purpose of Imperial Star Destroyers are literally to be the biggest, toughest and most heavily armed vessel in the fleet. They’re meant to outgun and overmatch their enemies in terms of armor, but they’re not the fastest ship there. They are a battleship, pure and simple, similar to the IJN’s Yamato or the Tirpitz. The Malevolence in TCW is actually a reference to the German battleship Bismarck.

Destroyers, on the other hand, are designed to be small, maneuverable, and punch up in regards to their weight class. The IJN specialized in destroyers because of uneven treaties pre-war that limited the tonnage and armament of their navy. There isn’t a lot of direct correlation, because the Rebel Alliance/Resistance tend to use fighters and bombers instead of small warships to take on their enemy, and their bigger Mon Cal ships are more aligned to cruisers/battleships themselves. The closest we come is something like the Imperial Raider-class, although their role doesn’t tend to be the same.

Valid opinion for someone in 1977 who hasn’t seen the real battleships of the Executor class yet.

Navy dude is spot on, especially as a response to the original posters claim of “same role.” The Executor being ridiculously big doesn’t take away from his point that the role that ISD’s were built for matches the design philosophy of a battleship not a destroyer.

Executor’s role is not a battleship at all. It’s only parallel on earth is a carrier. Big, unwieldly and designed to sit at the center of a larger formation. While modern carriers have effectively replaced battleships, because air power is what decides battles, it doesn’t take away from the role that those battleships were designed for.

Folks, when I said that the idea that “Star Destroyers fulfill the same role in galactic navies as Destroyers do in Earth-bound wet navies” was reasonable, I meant modern Destroyers in modern wet navies. With their ‘largest ships other than the carriers’ roles, modern Destroyers seem to be used for a lot of things, just as we see ISDs used for a lot of things in all Galactic Civil War era Canon visual media.
Are ISDs anything like WWII destroyers, with their small size, high speed, maneuverability, and up-punching armament? No, nothing like them at all.
Are they used in a similar way to modern Destroyers, usually being deployed alone or in small groups of similar ships, but coming together to form the battle group of a larger vessel when necessary? It looks as though they are.
My explanation (and I am by no means the “original poster,” having made a comment on a comment on a comment on Fractal’s work) was simply meant to convey my understanding of Fractal’s reasoning for his system.
If you have a problem with the system Fractal uses, I am not the one to call out on it.

I agree with you 100%. Though I personally think trying to equate ‘IRL’ wet navies to ‘URL’ space navies is both futile and pointless, each universe, be it SW, or others, have their own set of rules on ship classification/designation. SW, mind you, is one of the more confusing. ST has a much better classification system, imo, that was printed in the Starfleet Ships Of The Line books. The Imperator-Class is definitely a destroyer in SW.

More Like Light Battlecruisers. Even though Home Home one the engine is at least 1.875 kilometers long and would place the starship at least 9.9-11.7 kilometers long it would contain thousands of turbolaser and ion cannon batteries thousands of point defense concussion missile proton torpedo launchers ion cannons and laser cannons. Because it is the flagship it should be the biggest starship. And because I doubt the rebels would not have at least one dreadnought sized starship. Plus it would house an invasion force and multiple starfighter groups.

And yet the visual evidence of the films doesn’t put it anywhere near the size you claim it does. Star Wars Technical Commentaries puts the length somewhere between 2.5 and 3.8 km. 9.9 to 11.7 is not a credible assertion, especially not when your main reasoning is “that’s what I think it should be.”

I do not think I am wrong in ROTJ this a seemly massive mon cal warship, not home one that is or seems to at least multiple kilometers I never called that other starship home one. you’re wrong about me calling it home one. I also said thier was images that were hard to find so home one could not be it anyway. They can be wrong. That is a massive size range. Plus other factors. Home one must be at least 3.9 kilometers long given how much she dwarfs a 300-meter warship and that is just her rear. A larger mon cal warship could be thier as well.

Yes, they did base thier footage on the movies. First, a lot of the battle was never seen so you cannot say that are not warships at the battle bigger than home. In one of the falcon battles thier seems to be partway through the movie I think around the time the tie interceptor crashes into a mon cal cruiser. They seem to a light collar massive almost radius like a starship in the background seem too massive enough to complete dwarf to falcon. I do now why in what part. It seems to be white wish and massive. That is all I know But it could be an existing starship of on cal origin or even the home one itself. I did not see the entire starship from even one viewpoint.

The MC80 model is at a minimum of 3.9 kilometers long the legends Mc90 model could be a little bigger. Plus the cannon size of the Home is 1,300-1400 meters long and some mon cal warships of the MC80 line are up to 1.6 kilometers long so nearly 5 kilometers long MC80 is not out of line neither is a 3.6-kilometer long one. Upscaling from the cannon lengths.

In cannon thier 1.2-1.6 kilometers in all reality thier 3 times longer than that with 27 times the internal space. Given that no two mon cal warships look the same and different versions of which would be bigger and small than the baseline version of the class or subtype.

It’s not a phantom ship and was likely covered at some point on the website you linked to but thier showed almost zero other mon cal warships but for home one and a few other much smart starships. At about 1 hour and 35 minutes and 28 seconds, a giant white-ish mon call warship appears. Almost right after the famous tie fighter swarming see and a good looked at the imperial fleet. including the executor. Thier appears a massive mon cal warship with a gigantic bludge at multiple ends of the body. Granted in the front I think. I could not see the engine the bridge or any other points other than the tie interceptors chasing the falcon when the starship was thier. It is a hardship not to see. Again it might just be another existing starship much smaller or even home one it appears to be the only starship of its class.

lookup the starship it massive. Plus the Viscount should be about 38.5 kilometers long with the scaling issues. The Executor is 19 kilometers so the length of 38.5 kilometers makes more sense. The Acclamator should not be 752 meters when the SPHA s 140 meters for the body plus about another 35 meters for the main gun so about 175 meters. So multiple that my 50 times is 8.750 meters or 11.5 times that if the SPHA are lined up in rows is is well over 1,000 times the power generation. And ignoring the 16,000 troop number. it really should be at 50-60,000 if scaling up with an earth ship of slimmer roles. you would get hundreds of thousand ds to millions of troops in that starship.

Home one is at least a heavy battlecruiser grade warship at a minimum. And is likely at least 2-3 others likely more are thier. She is likely around 780 plus meters wide and maybe at least 540 plus meters tall. I never talked about hone in that post below. I just said thier seems to be evidence of gargantuan mon cal warships much bigger than home one in the battle and one of them may have been stopped. Yes, that answer was too large.

Heavy battlecruiser because they like the weapon numbers of a battleship but a certainty above a heavy cruiser grade warship. The executor would be a straight-up titan. a Bellator would a dreadnought and the mandator 4 would be a superdreadnought grade warship in normal naval placement.

In cannon, because no two starships are the same it’s 1,200-1,600 meters. So multiple that by 3 should gets us 3,600-,4800 meters. I think because it is the flagship and plus it likely the largest shuttles home one might be using. the 4.8-kilometer length seems more likely because the falcon alone is much larger than the shuttle used to get to the Endor. Assuming the scaling is off by 300 percent in all three ways length with and height.

Resurgent Class Battlecruiser

I was thinking with my reality numbers of the giant white cruiser or battleship that seems much larger than home one. It about 1 hour 35 minutes and 28 seconds into the movie. And the Falcon with multiple tie interceptors can be seen barely seen. But a massive mon cal capital ship in a whiteish grey color scheme can be seen. Head appears to be hundreds of meters long and many dozens of meters in width. We never see a full-scale or pics of the starship but it’s really far larger than an imperial class. Then the Raddus should be 10.8-14.4 kilometers longer given the 1,200 meters is likely a bottom limit. So multiplying the 3,6-4.8 kilometer long length by 3 gets us with 10.8-14.4 kilometers long. With the 14.4-kilometer length being the upper limit in size. It would likely be a heavy battleship and not a mere heavy cruiser.

Yes, I am pulling numbers based on the canonical sizes of the falcon and the tie interceptors, and assuming the part of the starship is the front given the massive budget it could be another home one type warship. That home size of 3,600-4,800 meters depending on whether you take the 1,200-1,600 meters size range multiplying that by 3 gives you 3,600-4,800 meters for home one less than half of the my earlier size. I thought upscaling the Raddus a different ship you also missed in that message should be around 10.8-14.4 kilometers if we are upscaling the Raddus. Watch the movie again. I provided a timestamp in one of my comments above that you missed. And in multiple other comments, I agreed with the home one being 3,600-4,800 meters given that no two warships are the size. If you think that cannon size is 1,200 meters the lore size is 3,600 meters meters.

I give you the time stop and other than that we never see in that movie an entire mon cal warship up close. Other than the death star blowing one up. Can you provide me evidence that warship does not exist?. Read the comment I give a description of the warship plus a time stamp. We never see the entire warship or pics of it before or after the battle it is only in a few seconds almost right after we see the tie swarm the executor. Thier are multiple tie interceptors chasing the falcon when a giant bulbous mon cal warship appears in the backup and it’s massive. It happens one hour 356 minutes and 28 seconds into the movie. If you are getting this triggered over this then just drop the subject matter. It’s just better to move on and forget than get this pissed off for zero reasons. I said nothing offensive at all and now you this pissed

DarthCatius

I dont think you’ve said anything offensive, not at all. Just me and CRM are trying to work out how you are justifying your figures?
A lot of Sci-Fi universes get their ‘Canon’ figures wrong, look what happened with the Executor and also the original Battlestar Galactica, that was stated to be just over 600m long, which would make it shorter than the Enterprise D! Now there are conflicted scaling sizes for the Galactica too, the one posted on the Battlestar wiki is just over 1200m, so around the size of a Ventator, upper limit puts it at just over 1800m, longer than an ISD, personally I go with the 1200+ scaling.

Who’s pissed off? I pointed out that you’re spamming the comments about a ship you can’t prove exists (“I cannot get a description of what it even looks like part of the little that we see for like 5 seconds”) and can’t provide even the slimmest proof that it is the size you say it is. You immediately turned around and proved my point by spamming more made up BS and word vomit.

Now, if you want there to be a ludicrously oversized Mon Cal Dreadnought at the Battle of Endor, that is certainly your prerogative in your own personal version of the SWU. But without conclusive proof that such a ship exists (which, despite the small novel you’ve written here, you still haven’t provided), you don’t get to make the rest of us take your word for it. And you certainly don’t get to insist that 2+2=17 and expect us to take you seriously.

So, again, pics or it didn’t happen.

It happens at one hour 35 minutes and 28 seconds in its white with bulges that seem to longer than the screen and appears for like 5 seconds is never given a name hence why I can not look it up because I do not know how to prove it without it having an official name just watch the movie. The dreadnought type figure was for the Radius size increase if you thought it needed them not based on any facts. It’s really hard to prove something if you do not what it looks like that is not my problem that is the fault of the people who name those starships.

That’s my point; the ships we do know about use multiple images with other objects in scale to arrive at a plausible size range. As near as I can tell from this string of posts, we only get a brief view of the tail end of the ship, with nothing nearby to provide a concrete scale to even make a size estimate of what we actually can see, never mind whatever the rest of the ship may look like. Simply seeing the Falcon and some TIE fighters in the same frame isn’t enough to generate anything but the most general of size estimates (as in, “that ship is way bigger than those fighters” is about as accurate as it gets).

Could you imagine the Mon Cals finishing the last of these that were in drydock after their insurrection and sending a few of these to be used by the Rebellion as escorts for larger capital ships or as hit-and-run tactics?

It is, but the modularity was largely a matter of what it could carry, whether as a general purpose patrol ship, light carrier, troop transport, pre-fab garrison base deployer, etc. So if all that’s actually happening is that the cargo bay is being rapidly converted from one mission to another, then the ship itself doesn’t really have to be all that modular in general.

CRMcNeill

I”m strongly considering amalgamating the Strike-Class and the Kontos into a single ship, called the Kontos-Class Strike Cruiser. Seeing as how the modularity that the Strike is touted for mostly boils down to what it can fit in its cargo bay, it’s not a huge leap to picture a Strike Cruiser as a modular attack platform that can be rapidly reconfigured to carry a variety of troop or vehicle types, a light carrier, and so on and so forth. If the cargo bay is set up as a “plug and play” where different module blocks can simply be inserted and plugged into the ship’s power supply, a lot of other options (like Command & Control or Surveillance) open up as well.

CRMcNeill
CRMcNeill

That fits. As near as I can tell, the Strike’s modularity was more hype than any sort of practical application. It certainly never made it into official game stats.

Plenty of actual naval hardware was advertised as modular by the prime contractor, but once accepted into service, the operating navy discovered that the modularity was more hype than substance for cost or module implementation reasons, and then eventually just ran the hull with only one module. Could be the case here.

CRMcNeill

My theory is that the modularity was restricted to the cargo / carrying spaces, in that they could be rapidly swapped out for barracks / flight decks / vehicle parking / containerized mission modules, etc. The guts of the ship itself would be fixed and hardened.

I went with a less extreme version of that, with the Strike having a detachable “main battery module” that could be swapped out, which mounted heavy (heavier, at least) turbolasers, ion cannon, missile launchers, additional anti-starfighter lasers, a sensor masking system, etc, depending on mission requirements. The modular cargo bays could then be paired with the various main battery modules to mix and match even further. The Missile Launcher module could be paired with Missile Magazines, anti-starfighter lasers with TIE Launch Bays, the Sensor Mask with additional sensor processing modules and stores for longer duration recon or scout missions, etc.
