The octagonal-section object is a tractor beam projector

I LOVE this ship, I’ve been looking for something to cover that mid-space between armed freighter and corvette. It is like the *perfect* size for a “hero” ship. Curious on so many things (internal facilities? cargo capacity?)–three questions if you’re willing to answer!
How many missiles/torpedoes can the ordinance tubes hold, or are they single?
Could the tractor beam be replaced with an ion cannon?
Could a quad laser (or other anti-starfighter turret) be added above the engines to cover the rear arc?
1) They’re just cells – single large ordnance, or replace with a quad pack for smaller weapons
2) Sure, but probably not that powerful
3) You’d have to replace the top or bottom light turbolaser turrets. The dead arc for the quad light lasers is very low, and those turbolasers can track dead aft – and no fighter wants to get hit by that.

How feasible would it be to replace the missile launchers with ion cannon?
Depends on how quick you’re using them up and how much you have available for resupply. Energy cannon have the decided advantage in efficiency of ammunition storage.
Nothing explicitly repeating per se, but WEG damage and fire control values were aggregates, so any rapid-fire capability would’ve been represented by the Damage and Fire Control dice values.
Would it be reasonable to assume that a quad-style ion cannon turret is completely reasonable? Configuration obvious shifts to suit barrel arrangements and what-not and suppose it’d run a bit higher on the power-demand scale, but still workable at a gunship/corvette scale.
Sure, just make them transport/fighter weight and you can have a gatling octuple ion if you wanted…

I still want one of these as my armed personal ferry as I travel through the galaxy in my Bellator… 😉

This is an awesome design! BZ from a retired USN officer! Can you tell me the crew complement and are deck plans available? I love seeing the interiors of these ships as they relate to the overall design. Thank you.

Love it! In my head, I imagine the two twin turrrets being medium turbolasers, the four quad turrets being light turbolasers, and it also having at least two twin or quad heavy laser cannon turrets, and at least two Concussion Missile tubes.
As I recall, Fractal once stated its armament to be 2 twin light turbolaser turrets, 4 quadlaser turrets, and 12 ordnance tubes.
I may be wrong about him stating that, but those are his twin light turbolaser turret, quadlaser, and ordnance tube assets.
I’m guessing the true purpose of this ship is chasing down pirates and smugglers in YT hot rods. Also, can you confirm what the dimensions and armaments are?

Awesome design!! What software are you using to produce these models? If you don’t mind me asking.
Yes they can rotate 360 degrees but can’t fire directly aft – the ship would have to tilt a bit.

My second favorite thing you’ve ever done. I just think this thing is cool. Would have enjoyed seeing it with a Lancer. I imagine a more creative Outer Rim commander doing wolf pack groups of these and Lancers to chase after rebel light freighter traffic.

A Imperial Falcon? Nice i love it. are the Top and bottom dual weapons Lasers or turbolasers? the smaller quad ones seem to be anti-Fighter Lasers. If the dual cannons are Turbolasers this thing would pack a serious punch for its size
Very awesome looking 🙂 A great alternate take on the YT-1300 design. Also, those comparison shots with other ships have been really helpful getting a since of size for these ships.
Also, speaking of which; How does this thing compare with the classic YT-1300 in terms of size? It definitely seems a little taller.
Can anyone tell me what is that located immediately below the flight deck? Is it an airlock of some kind?

Fighter/transport-weight light ion cannon, sure. Power might be more a problem for anything heavier.
Or you can use Ion Missiles/Torpedoes.
Depends on how quick you’re using them up and how much you have available for resupply. Energy cannon have the decided advantage in efficiency of ammunition storage.
Wasn’t there a fighter-scale repeating ion canon in the WEG stuff, or am I making that up?
Nothing explicitly repeating per se, but WEG damage and fire control values were aggregates, so any rapid-fire capability would’ve been represented by the Damage and Fire Control dice values.
For a corvette size ship, fighter-grade ion cannon would be trivial to mount in fairly large numbers – wouldn’t have to be a single high ROF barrel.
Would it be reasonable to assume that a quad-style ion cannon turret is completely reasonable? Configuration obvious shifts to suit barrel arrangements and what-not and suppose it’d run a bit higher on the power-demand scale, but still workable at a gunship/corvette scale.
Yeah as long as the yield matches the powerplant, I see no problems with that.

That’s what I counted.
Is this mistakenly tagged as WIP, instead of Gallery? Because it doesn’t look like a WIP.
Yep. Fixed.
Great design. What role does the Intersector play in the Imperial Fleet? Patrol? Fast attack? Jack-of-all-trades?
All of the above.

Can the guns on the mandibles rotate to fire behind and do they have a clear field of fire?
Yes they can rotate 360 degrees but can’t fire directly aft – the ship would have to tilt a bit.

The duals guns are light turbolasers. There are also missile tubes on the underside of the mandibles.
Technically, ULTRA light turbolasers in the Fractal-verse. Forget the yields, though.
What differentiates an ultra-light turbolaser from a heavy laser cannon?
power
By mandibles do you mean the wing-like flaps near the engine? If so I see the 5 tubes.
No, look at image Sloop78-1. There’s six missile tubes on either side of the bottom of the mandibles.
I see it, thanks

Much bigger than a YT – like 2x the length and 8x the volume.
So, ~70 meters-ish? IIRC, the length of the Falcon based on film evidence was put at ~35 meters.
