The turbo lasers are looking pretty good since the hanger makes them look enormous.

Have you talked to the Empire at War Remake team about letting them use your models in their mod? It is all about insane graphics for an old game, and I am sure they would appreciate it.

There is at least one EaW mod (Thrawn’s Revenge, maybe?) that uses some of his ships with his permission, from what I remember. I could be mistaken on that.

Though if you are talking about his actual poly models, there is zero chance the game would support that. They are insanely high poly counts by game standards.

Thrawn’s revenge does not directly use any of Ansel’s ship models. We only use the actual designs that has been introduced into canon (or in this case Legends) when making ships for the mod. There is serious doubt we would ever directly use any of his models in the mod (Game can probably not even render them) especially if those models are non-canonical designs.

This is awesome. Maybe you could do a scaled image next to an ISD once it’s done? Also, do you have any knowledge of what a Mandator I-class (and indeed II and III) is supposed to look like? This is the only one of the main dreadnoughts that I can’t seem to find any images of.

The first rule of Fractalsponge Club is, you do not talk about the Mandator Class.

The second rule of Fractalsponge Club is, you DO NOT TALK about the Mandator Class.

He takes commissions. If you want to pay him for several weeks or more of work, his commission info is on this site. It’s not cheap since his work takes time and expertise. https://fractalsponge.net/?p=3424

That said, he did do the Bellator and Asserter classes which are supposed to be of the same design lineage, with the Bellator being a slimmed down version for speed and the Asserter being the ultimate big-gun battleship.

Wow, this work is amazing, how many polys do you hit?
Do you make the interiors as well? (I imagine that would be insane if you did but with this level of detail I cannot put it beyond possibility. With that said, I know how impossible star wars interiors can get)
This is amazing work.

The fact that one person can do this really says something about the work ethic for the people over at Disney star wars. This is an insanely well-done Golan station, dude

I know you’re not a fan of the anti-boarding defenses on the original Star Galleon, but would they be more appropriate here? I mean, since an orbital battlestation can’t run, would it make more sense to make it as tough a nut to crack as possible against an attempted boarding action, too?

So heavily compartmentalize the station, ala the Carrack? Each section with independent power supply and life support? IMO, they’d be inclined to do that anyway to make it as tough as possible.

Or just install banks of escape pods next to all the duty stations, so the crew can just jet back to the friendly planet below, and then scuttle the station behind them.

Seems detrimental to the mission of a station purpose-built to stand and fight, but okay.

Sure, fight when you can, but when faced with overwhelming force, there comes a point where you lose all ability to mount meaningful resistance. In those cases, it’s good for human capital retention and morale to save valuable trained officers and crew.

You might have different variants of the same model station for different use cases.

If your defending a habitable planet the escape pod thing makes a lot of sense, but if you are defending some kind of deep space installation without a habitable planet nearby, you might want to use that tonnage for something else.

If a station’s crew has to bug out, the planet the station is orbiting is not a safe place to bug out to. whoever just came in and beat the snot out of your station now controls orbital space above the planet. they can proceed to beat the snot out of the planet, or use you for hostages.

It’d be really cool to have an Intersector or one of those small gunboats you did either entering or exiting one of the hangers. I love seeing the ISD for scale, but sometimes seeing a smaller vessel helps too.

CFletch

I like how this is developing. Those hangers really up the capacity for use as a customs/patrol home base, which makes sense given where these tend to be put. It’d be good to give these some extra utility outside the rare times they are needed for planetary defense. Much easier to sell to defense planners.

What is the purpose of the large spike-like structure on the bottom?

If I should guess I would say the spike houses the repulsor unit to keep something of that size afloat above a planet.

What are your thoughts On Izdami7 on the whole star wars vs star trek thing? And how even though a galaxy-class was nearly destroyed by 400 gigawatts. Even though he calms its torpedoes at are Moon Level for some reason. And Phasers are Multi Continent Plus Level.

The empire is built as a warmachine, cranking out superweapons by the dozen. The Federation is a pacifist neo-socialist pipe dream who “Doesn’t build warships”. Yeah. C3P0 could probably defeat the Federation.
