I think the “just plain bad” comment was supposed to be a compliment, especially when taken into context with the thumbs up and fire. “Bad” is a dated term, but surely there are enough of us old guys who recall that “bad” can be good. Who could criticize Fractal’s work without being a self-hating troll?

So the missile tubes fire backwards and they sort of arc out towards their targets?
Given their low relative observed speed combined with the maneuverability, they probably work better against pursuing ships than they would fired as chasing shots.
Missile performance has a pretty broad range. The ANH exhaust port turn is several times fighter acceleration, and prequel missiles are easily able to keep up with prequel fighters that generally have better than standard OT acceleration. Rear-facing is definitely a drawback but given observed performance far from a fatal one. But I *do* envision that the primary mission profile of most launches would be against pursuers.
My inference from the scene was that the Force acted as a supernaturally accurate and adaptable guidance system (better than any technological targeting computer could hope to be), but that the maneuver displayed at the exhaust port was entirely within the physical capabilities of the torpedoes themselves.

and will they be able to carry larger fighters such as whirlwind for example.

If necessary yes. Given the torpedo maneuverability we see in ANH this should be zero problem.

Wasn’t it implied that the force guided the torpedoes?

yes
Hell of a fireworks show for the folks working flight/landing control if they spam off all those missiles at once.
Fractal, you are quality incarnate.
Couple of questions.
1) Extensible assault boarding system
2) Missile tubes
3) The rear racks can cycle the fighters to access the airlocks
Are those 6 cylinders at the bottom of the bow missile racks as well? I thought they are escape/boarding/landing pods or something like this.
I was thinking mine layers
The difference between a missile boat and a minelayer is just what’s loaded in the tubes.
That is just awesome Fractal! 😀
