Are you referring to the ones on the lower port and starboard sides, behind the hangar?
If so, those are sensor panels. IIRC, they’re modelled on the triangular panels which comprise the surface of the ISD’s shield generator/sensor globes.

Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 were probably the Star Wars games I got the most hours out of, growing up; so seeing this brought to life with such clarity is a sight to behold, thank you!

This look a lot like the Musai from Gundam.

I love this ship, it first showed up in Star Wars Rogue Squadron III on the gamecube back in the day. One of my favorite designs. I am going to the storage to get my old gamecube and rogue squadron III copy just to play it again

This is an awesome ship. I also liked this ship in the Rogue squadron 3 game. It would be great to see this ship show up in star wars, The Mandalorian, or even Book of Boba Fett. As a small group of the Imperial Remnant, being the Storm Commandos. If they pull it off right it’d be great. Maybe have some of them escorting the Arc Hammer. Just saying. It’d be great. Maybe to push the story along. They use some of these ships to go help break out Moff Gideon. Also bring in those Tie Hunters, Since they already have Moff Gideon’s Tie fighter that lands and folds its wings. Great way to fan service.
I’m about to start a Star Wars Saga edition D20 Roleplaying game on Roll20 where the players will be a special ops squadron of tie-fighter aces based from one of these.

what are the ships under the tie hangers in the renders? what dropships?
Yeah, the one in most of the renders is Fractal’s design of a DX-9 Stormtrooper Transport and the one on the second from the bottom is a LAAV/i gunship.

I’m such a Legends nerd, I saw the thumbnail for this and INSTANTLY knew what it was! Awesome deep cut from Fractal (as usual)!

I’ll be honest the through-and-through hangar in the ships spine does make me a little nervous structural integrity-wise, but apart from that stellar job, as always.

Best corvette sense your corvette. Is yours still cannon? It needs to be for sure.
I can’t imagine how, seeing as there are no official images of the Mediator, and any sort of family tree linking an Imperial special operations transport to a Mon Calamari battlecruiser would have to be very convoluted, indeed.

Very nice. How does it compare in performance with your other corvettes like the Aiwha or Indictor?
Faster than the Aiwha (which is already fast), but perhaps not quite as fast as Indictor at full tilt. This and the Indictor are both highly specialized, so the comparison is difficult. Aiwha would be lethal to both of them if it caught either, being a general combatant design that has high power density and substantial shield endurance.
One thing this design completely lacks is sustained combat power. It has incredible burst firepower through the warhead load, and can outgun a destroyer – once. So the proper thing to do facing something like an Aiwha is to try and kill it in a single alpha strike, or run like hell while siccing a squadron of heavy fighters and a stream of missiles on it. The best option is really just to be done with the job before an enemy can react appropriately.
From a special operations perspective, pairing it with an Indictor (as a remote comm/scan/control platform) makes more sense.

Awesome! Glad to see this obscure ship getting some love. I’ve always found it annoying that the official name for this was the ‘Imperial Escort Carrier’, which always redirected to the Ton-Falk carrier when searched for. So Spector-class Storm Commando Carrier’s a great choice!

For me it is incredible!
I would just make a change, put a storm command in the hangar bay.

In my mind, the dorsal turrets near the bow look similar to the 12.7cm (127mm)/50 Type 3 guns used by the Imperial Japanese Navy’s destroyers from the Fubuki-class up to the Yūgumo-class. This includes Shimakaze.

What is the length on this ship? I saw one source that said it was 150 meters, but when I scaled it out with the 3 side-by-side TIEs and the 20 meter Stormtrooper Transport in the hangar, it looks like 300 meters.
Oh, it’s beautiful. What a gorgeous model. You know if I am ever in the financial position to commission a piece, I’d do something from the Expanse. Fractal’s style would work so well in the grounded, hyper-realistic setting of the Expanse

Absolutely, amazing work, as always! Thanks also for providing the top down view – I am going to incorporate this beautiful new design in an online top down tactical battle using the old WEG 2nd edition mechanics.
The main guns being on the ascending spine reminds me of Zeon’s Musai-class from the original Gundam.
What are the interweaving triangle details on so many of Fractal’s design’s, hatches of some sort?

no
What’s that ventral aperture at the fore of the ship? If it’s a massive space laser that’d be sick
Docking clamp for boarding operations. This thing doesn’t have the power density for another big gun.
ah good point thx, still it seems pretty damn big/unwieldy if it’s just for docking
My guess is it’s designed to lock onto an enemy ship for large-scale boarding operations, so it needs to be more secure.
Really nice work, I kind of miss the small turrets at the fore of the ship, but looking at the other stuff you added it made me forget about it.
This looks like it could be at the root of the Mediator-Class…

I can imagine a Spector pairing up with a Velox to compensate.

I get LAAT gunship vibes from the body shape.

In his early post he said it was roughly 270 meters

I agree, orthos are always incredibly cool and useful even just to get silhouettes
