Ok so I have check your artstation and you have finished the Old republic command ship which is sweet but you didn’t post it in this website so why is that?
Here it was it look like for now:?1510159364
I really don’t think pestering our host about ‘slowing down’ is especially fair/wise; the rate at which Fractal’s been cranking out this ship-update barrage blew me away as is.
Yeah sorry about that I was expecting the next usual 4K render on one of his models he created, But I didn’t know he was going to finish the old republic command ship today, I though he going to finish it after he done all the 4K renders alongside some WIP models like the Heavy Frigate, the TIE variant and the Ground support vehicle.

Hey Fractal, have you seen the Star Wars Empire at War RE mod? he added almost all of you ships into the game.

Mm, this seems to be an aquired taste for me, as the mandible’s hull is a little…bland. But the back end is great, though.

Ans now for something out of place the Hapan Battle Dragon:/revision/latest?cb=20080924224547
The length is 500 meters and it’s armaments include 40 Turbolaser batteries, 40 Ion cannons, 2 Triple ion cannons, 10 Proton torpedo launchers, 1 tractor beam projector and 16 Pulsemass mine lunchers (Here more info about the Pulsemass: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pulsemass_generator) it’s fighter complement include either 36 Miy’til starfighters (here what they look like:/revision/latest?cb=20080428030825) or 36 T-65 X-wings and it carry 500 ground troops.
Neat as grav-well mines are, I’m a lot more partial to this particular EU polity’s small craft (and the Nova-class ‘cruiser’, goofy as its folding-fan bridge protectors look) than the Battle Saucer’s rotating-gun schtick. If your main weapons have that much of a cooldown drawback compared to galactic-standard counterparts, wouldn’t playing musical emplacements only *exacerbate* the rate-of-fire issue?
Right-if the Hapans were rolling in as much ‘former’ pirate dosh as the EU implied, minor/major arms firms would be tripping over each other to hawk under-the-table arsenal updates.

By away there is a another custom ship called the Guardain class light cruiser:/revision/latest?cb=20110216210534
The length is 42 meters.
Argh, didn’t intend that as a reply, was referring to the customs ‘vette. Guardian itself looks sturdy enough, but Sithspit do peeps throw around ‘cruiser’ in this fanbase.
There is also a another customs ship called a Imperial Customs Frigate and is even smaller than the Guardian at 35 meters in length.
There is no picture of the standard one but there is a modified pirate vessel know as the Counter-Puncher use by Tor Skylow and her Imperial deserters.
This is what it look like:/revision/latest?cb=20110417040118
I suspect it’s a toroidal reactor with a ventral docking port running through the hole in the centre.
There looks to be a telescoping collar, and clamps to latch onto ships too big to fit between the mandibles and too uncooperative to dock with using the forward ports. I suspect IOC are authorised to cut their way into ships which don’t cooperate. The asset at the centre of it is the same one that’s used for all the other airlocks.
Placing an airlock that close to the reactor honestly didn’t occur to me-ditto for non-sphere reactor shaping. Good eyes & reasonable suppositions, though.
Thanks! I suspect toroidal reactors are far less space efficient (in terms of power output per unit internal volume) than spheres, but Rendili went with it because the boarding clamp/tube was a design requirement from IOC. What with this not being a true warship they could get away with not having the power output to sustain strong shields.
The reshaping of the underside for the Military Variant suggests to me that Rendili went back to a spherical reactor as soon as they didn’t need the ventral port anymore.
Or maybe three toroids stacked? One for each engine…
Also… While I think the location for a dock here makes some sense, you’d think it wouldn’t have come at the expense of reactor volume/power generation… But, it’s obviously the same dock asset used elsewhere AND if that’s a telescoping docking clamp, then what are the 4 circle elements around the dock? Because they’re in several other spots as well… Inside the arms where they support the clamp theory, but also under the central dock and on the outside, rear-facing edges of the arms… My first thought was smaller docks for smaller ships, but… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Three toroids vertically stacked could work, although I’ve just noticed three hemispherical assets on the stern (above and between the engines) which could be very small reactors, or possibly hypermatter storage tanks.
On a ship this small, there’s only so much space to fit things into. Forward and aft of there don’t really have space for either a decent sized reactor or a telescoping ventral boarding tube.
I suspect the inverse-cog-like circle elements are tractor beam projectors. Between the mandibles they hold captured vessels from as many angles as possible, to allow for maximum fine tuning of position for easy boarding. There is what appears to be a cargo bay door in the lower half of each of the lateral indents. Perhaps the projectors on the outside, rear-facing edges of the arms are for cargo handling and/or assisting with docking to a station via the cargo bay.
There is a slight difference in the ‘inverse cogs’ around the ventral port, they appear to have an iris mechanism/some other sort of patterning in the centre indent. Perhaps there is a clamp/powerful electromagnet behind this iris which adheres the ship to its target after the tractor beams have guided it in.
That makes sense. And there’s actually 2 more of those ‘tanks’ under the engines as well–they’re easier to see on the aft views from the original posting. And never noticed those doors in the indents before!
What a beauty. Though looking at it. I never realized, it seems its bigger than even the crusader. I always wondered how these six turrets stacked up the CR90s big two+four /TLs. In my headcannon I imagined this and Fractal’s Aiwha as the more economical/capable replacements for the role of the Imperial Arquitens with her four quad lasers. Though I guess new canon scaling says the Arquitens was larger than a Nebulon now.

Shouldn’t the top be more like a fin with the bridge underneath??
It’s amazing how this ship has evolved…like a game of telephone.
I know it’s not the original, but I love (in that way) the scale and sheer practicality of this build. I do admit that I miss a bit of the ‘messiness’ that you might see with other Rendili StarDrive (Neb-B) ships and the sheer rakishness of the version that was in Ships of the Galaxy.
I like Fractal’s work….but looking at the original pic I posted…I like that the bridge appears to be a little more protected on the bottom. Plus you can make the shark fin out to be either a powerful sensor or a stronger shield projector.

The arch enemy of smugglers everywhere, returns. Damn the Imperial Customs office and their beautifully effective corvettes.
hi fractal, what is the length of this ship
Is there an official length for this ship? I’ve never been able to find it.
If this is based on the imperial Light Corvette it’s 180m
I wish there were images from a direct side angle, as well as above and below
So Fractal you are busy with something that is slowing your work on your next 4k render?
Yes, life. It’s not a subscription service.

Ok never mind the ship is now 100% done.

Or just buy some better weapons on the black market to use as ‘templates’ to build better weapons.

Sturdy-looking landing gear, high-profile/visibility CIC, and more fun with tractors & mandibles. Unsure if that ventral ring’s an airlock or reactor.

@gorkmalork
Back in the day they just added cruiser, frigate, etc…to just about anything of any size.
True enough-at least most of the earlier EU examples were CR90-tonnage or more. Stuff like this is more Falcon or shuttle-scale.
My excuse for that the Guardian-class was that it was a ‘Police Cruiser’ or ‘Customs Cruiser’, not an actual warship.
Different terminology for different armed-force branches at least has some precedent.
The ventral ring has to be a reactor. A vessel like this is going to be mostly engine if it’s going to rundown ships 1/5th its size.
You’re probably right due to sheer space limitation.
I suspect it’s a toroidal reactor with a ventral docking port running through the hole in the centre.
