Someone should do a Deadpool 2 and take Fractal back in time to 1976 and put him in charge of the ILM art & design department… 😉

love how it reminds me of the Galactica. Any hope of seeing a Rebel Assault Frigate in the future? especially the MK II because I figure you could make that strange ship that looks nothing like the MK1 or a dreadnought ACTUALLY work.

This looks like a more of a Corvette then a Dreadnaught in my opinion.

because ships got bigger. this WAS a medium cruiser back in the day but now it’s an escort equivalent ship now, and the Rebel version is called the Assault Frigate.

Under the Anaxes War College System, the Dreadnaught is a heavy cruiser.

i think they thought the dreadnaught is an actual dreadnaught and not just a dreadnaught-class

It’s also worth noting the history of the term “Dreadnaught”. It’s literally just a fancy way of saying “Fears Nothing”. We view the term as “super-battleship” because of the HMS Dreadnought, but unless capital ship development in the SWU paralleled that of the real world (either exactly or somewhat closely), the term Dreadnought as a kind of warship wouldn’t have evolved the same way.

If the Proclamator is classified as a Star Frigate, what would you classify the Dreadnaught as? Star Corvette perhaps? Or would it be just a small-scale Star Frigate?

A Star Frigate. More specifically a Heavy Star Frigate like the Proclamator.

I absolutely love what you did with the this ship. I always wanted to like the Dreadnaught in the EU days (especially given the dearth of non-murder wedge, mile-long capital ships), but it always looked off; wrong proportions, too organic looking in some spots, confusing weapon emplacements, etc. You have now made the Dreadnaught one of my favourite ships in all of sci-fi. Great work!

(Same with the Gladiator, your model looks fantastic.)

This is a Dreadnought Mark 3, I reckon. Mark 2’s are the classic ones we all know and love. I don’t think he’s reworked the entire ship, he’s just done a graphic of the new version.

2 questions…can we get a scaling shot of the Dreadnought with the Gladiator? They are 2 of my favorites. And can we get a scaling shot of TIEs launching from the Dreadnought’s hanger??

looking at them next to each other I think that you can easily put the whole bridge of the proclamator together with the antenna shields and everything else.

Hey, BTW, did you receive an email from me about a pc build? I’m not sure if I used the right email to contact you.

I’m such a fan of this ship. It’s so beautifully simple
