Amazing work, these Defense Monitor’s are armed with quad light turbos and some kind of missile launcher in the bow, so not really enough to deal with a big ship but more than enough to harass corvettes or protect against them and other smaller craft.
So doctrinarily I would assume that they’d be either pottering around a fortified system, acting as merchant escorts, meeting ships incomming to be covered under their guns. Or to act as an adjunct to the Golan if there’s one present, dealing with smaller targets whereas the big guns of the Golan’s can punch a cruiser or Star Destroyer type ship into the middle of next week.
More high-end Medium turbolaser than Light (same class of weapon that the Carrack and Arquitens carry – shorter barrelled than the true Heavy Turbolasers carried by Dreadnoughts and Vindicators, but very chunky).
The turret on the underside – that’s a twin light turbolaser.
