ISD Devastator WIP#1

Converting the ISD Redux into an ANH/R1 variant. Mostly will continue with Avenger styling – I will be making some different choices than ILM did with Rogue One on what parts of ANH and ESB style to incorporate. One difference – superfiring guns.

I’m wondering if it’ll have the big dishes in front of the main hangar bay that the ANH ship has but that the TESB one doesn’t.

I went back and had a look at Fractal’s original “pre-redux version” Imperator and it, interestingly, has the ANH-type hangar dishes. So the graphical asset “tractor beam dishes” exists, even if Fractalsponge decided not to use it on the Imperator Redux, instead making it look a bit more TESB-ish around the hangar.

Ah yes, the one we’ve been missing. With superfiring positions, the Turrets now have a greater alpha than having to position the ship downwards for all Turrets to fire, truly some Kuat technological superiority.

The might of the Imperial fleet is unmatched, and incredibly detailed. As always thanks to Fractal, whose models are far more accurate than the ones we see in the holos (movies).

I notice the armour plating on the flank terraces above the main portside turrets (vertical slopes) that’s not present on the Imperator II Redux or even the Tector – but that is present on the old Devastator prop (Star Wars Technical Commentaries’s Exhibitions – Devastator, comments on the Devastator being more armoured than the Avenger there). Does a good job at making the ship look more Devastator-ish.
