I’d love to see this with blue instead of red. It would look so nice.

WELL DONE AGAIN!!!!! I always prayed that someone would make models of all the ships I grew up reading about and imagined in my mind. Thank you so much brother!!!

Always loved this ship. Any plans on doing the Endurance fleet carrier to go along with it?

Your models never cease to amaze! It will forever confuse me why Disney removed this from the canon. Keep up the good work Mr. Hsiao

O yeah that is a beautiful and amazing model.

Are those tractor beam projectors mounted above the primary battery to hold ships in its firing arc? If so, that’s positively amazing.

And another gorgeous beast joins the lineup! Spectacular work, as ever…it’s great to see so many of the old EU ships getting “definitive” versions.

I haven’t checked discord in a while, so I might not be the first in general, but let me be the first here [and yes, IATA]:
When are you going to get to that Mon Calmari Star Destroyer from ‘Rebuild the Galaxy’?!?!
Might make it difficult for the ship to outgun the much larger Imperial class as it does in the sourcebooks despite its smaller size.
Perhaps the Imperial’s primary guns can all fire only once per second at maximum rate, with this ship firing 2 to 5 shots per second from every gun, depending on what’s needed to make it “better than Imperial-class”?
It has a total “alpha strike” of 2100 teratons to the Imperial II’s 4200 teratons. Giving it double the firing rate would make it exactly equal, and triple the firing rate would make it comfortably better – consistent with the splatbooks.
@CT2222 Gee… It couldn’t possibly be that society is unfortunately dominated by smooth-brained imbeciles who largely can’t read or comprehend anything technical?
I think you’re correct in the smallest batteries being point defence. I think given the footprint of the twin 40tt batteries in an enormous housing/turret/barbette, that these may be the pulse cannon, the huge housing providing the space for whatever makes the pulse-cannon go “brrrt”, in comparison to “pew-pew-pew” of a standard 40 TT.
I think you are correct. I doubt that they are point-defence turrets as, in legends, the Nebula is not supposed to carry any laser cannon batteries, instead relying on its large and highly advanced fighter wing to protect it from external fighter threats.
Prof. Hsiao rarely holds to the oft irrelevant and confusingly self-contradictory specifications derived from the broad range of legends sources. What you see here is his standard point-defence typology of one Ultra-light TL and one heavy laser [I think that’s the split, could be wrong], so I’d expect a standard point-defence system.
As noted by others, the Nebula’s stong left hook is going to be a rather mundane, but specific technological MacGuffin that allows it to benefit from some aspect(s) of power density that allows it to fire it’s weapons at a much more effecient/faster rate than a standard ISD to such a level that whomever is handling the specific marketing/PR of these ships inserts ‘pulse laser’ into the copy because they absolutely don’t know any better. As such, it’s satisfying the general requirement for these ships to out-gun an ISD without having to re-greeble a new line of weapon mounts because it’s still the same infrastructure.
Understood completely. It is easily acceptable that these would be laser cannons, and that the pulse lasers would not be needed to to the better power efficiency, however, I think that these should still be the pulse cannons, mainly because, as aforestated, the Nebula had no need of point-defence guns, but more because this additional anti-capital ship weaponry would give the Nebula an overwhelming amount of firepower, beginning to come into line with the (still vastly overpowered) description of the Nebula from the new essential guide to vehicles and vessels. Additionally, if you might think that the Nebula should still have an anti-starfighter system, it is highly likely that the turbolasers and pulse lasers could still do this task, as Mon Calamari cruisers are famously known to have this ability, and the nebula is meant to be an even more advanced ship.
Given the size of the armoured turrets the twin 40TT are, they could well be the pulse cannons, which if firing at a high rate could equal the output of the more numerous octuple mounts of the Imperial 2. Just a thought.
To clarify my point regarding ‘ if the large armoured housings of the 40tt twin turrets are pulse cannons, output may equal the Impstar 2, I mean not just those alone, but in conjunction with it’s primary and secondary batteries.
@Anonymous Pretty sure this thing could destroy a Imperial Mk1 or Mk2 class Star Destroyer. Its far more advanced and has pulse cannons. Also, others have given good reasons why your statement is completely false.
I don’t know if this is what I need to die happy, but it truly is awesome. One of my favorite ships in the entire series, simply because it looks so cool.
Now if FractalSponge suddenly discovered his love for the Traveller RPG setting and started creating awesome reimagined versions of its most iconic ships, I’m pretty sure I’d be in the “die happy” category.
I would die happy if Fractal ever did a Pellaeon or Imperious Class from the Legacy comics (which are by far the best designed Imperial SD’s of all time)
@Ry01tank I see you too are a man of culture. Those ships need Fractal’s touch for an update very badly. I would be intrigued to see what he comes up with should he. In fact one aspect I would LOVE Fractal to cover one day in the very distant future is a Pius Dea Cathedral ship; yet I am happy with whatever insane design/redesign he comes up with.

At last! We have the finest and most effective star destroyer ever built!
True, I misspoke. The Imperator is certainly the most effective star destroyer ever made, I meant the most effectively designed star destroyer. As to how fine the vessel is, that could be up for opinion, although I suspect that most people will agree with me that the Nebula is the best.
I’m hoping the Endurance-class will be next, since it was mostly the same chassis – main differences being extra hangars, a dorsal tower, and less gun turrets.
I’d love to see this with blue instead of red. It would look so nice.

PERFECT!!! WITH THIS I CAN NOW DIE HAPPY
Also does anyone happen to know the calibre of the huge central battery? (And the rest of the weapons in general)
Twin 320 TT HTLs, 4 Triple 70 TT HTLs, and 8 Twin 40 TT HTLs.

You know, I think this might say something, about society or whatever. Can’t imagine what that would be, though.
Anyways, since this site has an image thing:
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Munificent the Capacitor Boat?…
@CT2222 Gee… It couldn’t possibly be that society is unfortunately dominated by smooth-brained imbeciles who largely can’t read or comprehend anything technical?
It has numerious smaller turrets which could be the pulse cannons it has in lore which are also anti-capital ship weapons.
I counted 11 of those. It’s my theory that they are point-defence cannons, but they could also easily be pulse cannons
11 on the top and 6 on the bottom

Hell I love the Pellaeon-class. Thanks for bringing this up tho :>
@Section31 Seems we have that in common. The Pellaeon-Class Star Destroyer is a magnificent beast.
