As someone who works on EW/ISR aircraft IRL, I appreciate your choice of just slapping as many over-size arrays as you can on an existing transport. The only things I’d worry about are having enough power/cooling for those arrays, and enough communications bandwidth to transmit the intel it collects to whoever needs it (especially if this is meant to fill an AWACS role).
It definitely won’t have the power to put through those arrays to match what they’d be capable of on a capital ship, but the independent mobility and reduced visibility compared to the capital is the main advantage.
Is there a reason why this ship shares a name with an first order shuttle?
A simple reason, really- this isn’t canon.
I remember stumbling across the wip thinking it’d never get made but wow it’s way cooler than I imagined it would be – I love those rounded side wings more than I think I should. Also, do the triangular things have some sort of special role (as the same ones seem to be on the Carrack) or are they simply cool greebles? Either way, I absolutely adore this design.
They are sensor panels, scaled to match the facets on the sensor globes of the ISDII
