Four quad heavy turbolaser batteries seems too much for an model of the arquintens, even if this one is larger (ballpark 500 meters?). It practically doubles the firepower of the contemporary carrack class, which itself struggled to pack as much as it did into its frame. I am struggling to see where the power generation for this comes from, and still have room for an extensive through-deck hanger. Maybe I am wrong, but it just seems a little overpowered?
Nevertheless, great model, excited to see it finished and sized up.
I thought they where quad heavy Turbos, since the Carrack is stated to have 10 heavy turbos and Fractual’s has 10 of those guns. “Heavy” is pretty vague, so it’s probably on the lighter side, but still powerful enough to combat heavily armored/sheilded crusiers. Just my speculation.
According to fractalsponge, there’s no way a Carrack’s turbolasers are “true” heavy turbolasers – they’re just heavy by comparison to the turbolasers of other ships of comparable size, and are actually Medium (200 GT):
Presumably when he designed his version of Carrack, he followed that philosophy. And since his Arquitens has the same version of the quad turbolaser (look closely and they exactly match in shape) it’ll have ones of the same yield.
This makes the most sense. With each platform, the damage application is fine tuned. For example, the chin-mounted cannons on a LAAT were designed for versatility and ground support, contrasting with the XX-9’s focus on anti-capital ship warfare. Nevertheless, call up Taim & Bak with an issue, they will open the same bin of repair parts. With similar terms and maybe even swappable hardware, the specialized nature of weaponry is easy to appreciate on the big screen, but specs sheet wise it is a bit of a crossword puzzle.
Like seeing the TIEs. It helps with scaling. Any chance of getting those troop ships that Gideon was using as well?

Simply beautiful. Far better than the one in the Mandalorian!

I know this one is not done, but how many quad laser cannons was this supposed to have? I think the one from the show had none, but yours looks to have 12.
It’ll probably have around 8 by the time the whole ship is completed though. I do however see 4 quad turbolasers, 4 dual turbolasers and 2 light twin turbolasers or heavy dual laser cannons though.
It’ll probably be light on laser cannons though it seems the 546 cruiser is more aimed at capital ship engagement compare to the original arquitens which was more well rounded with 4 heavy quad laser cannons, 4 sponson dual turbolasers and 4 ordinance launchers which could fire proton torpedos or concussion missiles.
In WIP #2, there is what appear to be a small turret on the side of the spine just above the launch tube, another turret on the aft end of the spine, and a turret above the docking port.
Additionally, there is a grebal adjacent to the center of the forward spine that looks very much like a turret base. And another halfway between the command tower and the docking port.
In WIP #3, there are two laser turrets along the edge.
Then there are 4 grebals that look like turret bases on the under side. One is just forward of the escape pods, one just aft and above the hanger, and two near the aft, centered on the drive section, near the center ridge.
Assuming symmetrical placement, that’s 9 confirmed laser turrets, and a potential for 10 more. Whether those end up being laser turrets or not, well we’ll have to wait and see. The more PD the better. After all, the Imperial engineers do actually learn from their failures and this one might have been built after the Mandalorian used the previous iteration as a ballistic missile.
The small quad turrets (each with a dish on top) appear to be the same type of quad laser that the Intersector-class Sloop carries.
The Crusader-class corvette had a set of asymmetrical two-gun turrets (one side was turbolaser, one side was laser cannon) and the twin guns in the “waist trench” look like a paired version of the laser cannon half of those asymmetrical Crusader turret guns.
Hopefully this will come out of mothball in the new year.
Hopefully this gets a little more love soon.
wow this is almost as good as that one time i went to a chinese restaurant.
god flipping dam

You do realize he might just not be done with the other side of the model.
Yeah I know he’s not done, but why put two quad arrays only on one side? That doesn’t make any sense…
just the way the ship was dessigned
It will have 4 turrets when completed also this is the ship from the mandalorain so that one has 4×4 turrets
Prefer the turret design of the movie 546 cruiser also they are heavy ones as they look bigger than this turrets
These are a lot bigger proportionately but ok.
Main battery is unlikely to be asymmetrical, and we can guess rough reactor output by the general shape of the vessel. It is overgunned, imo.
Are they not medium turbolasers?

Everything i’ve heard is that it’s 4 quad mediums

Where do you see 12 quad laser cannons I only see 3. Two flanking the bridge and one behind it.
I see three, but two flanking and one on the underbelly. Strange it’s not symmetrical, seeing as it’s an Imperial ship.
Well, this is only Work In Progress #3. Most of the port side of the ship is still under development.
