Would that be wise though to put explosive ordinance in between your engines? Soon as your shields go down a single shot could blow your entire engine area up.
As wise as any decision to militarize a civilian fleet. Makes a lot of sense to bolt on flexible, multi-use ordinance box to a pre-existing vessel that can be laying mines, launching probes, or placing nav beacons in a matter of weeks vs. waiting to design, manufacture, and distribute a bespoke solution at 10x the cost in credits and time. Of course, you obviously do both, with your new platforms coming online as attrition and war efforts have either yeeted the C-70’s out of existence or rendered them ineffective.
Honestly I think where they had the twin missile launchers canonically was a better fit. which was the spherical pod below the cockpit which they converted into a missile launcher system. That location is probably gonna be the hardest to hit since most shots will probably hit the main body or engine area rather then the head of the ship.
