I’ve always wondered why more SW ships don’t have guns scaled to the size of the ship and rely instead on lots of “little” gun turrets. Maybe would just mess with the clean lines?

What is the firepower of this beautiful weapon ? Can it one shot an ISD’s shield ? Nice and original work Mr Fractal !
According to the Something Big thread on stardestroyer.net where Fractalsponge used to post most of his pics, a capital ship ought to be able to take 10 minutes bombardment from a ship of the same class before total shield failure, and 1 minute’s bombardment of a small area of shield before localised shield failure. Deliver that one minute’s power all at once and there should at least be penetration and hull damage though not shield collapse.
For an ImpStar, that’s around 240 petatons (4 petatons per second is the most Fractal’s ImpStar Redux (with all the extra turrets modelled on) can deliver if every gun fires full power, once per second, all at once).
For comparison, the Star Monitor should be able to deliver at least a 3 petaton alpha strike – maybe more if the individual bolts are more than 1 petaton.
Not nearly enough to insta-penetrate an ISD’s shield. Might work on something smaller though.
I love this Star Wars version of a monitor ship. Smaller, slower, cheaper, but it kicks like a mule in terms of firepower. You can tell this ship is kitbashed from multiple sources (Vigil-class corvette’s conning tower, Golan-class platform’s turbolaser turret, Imperial-class star destroyer’s secondary ion engines) to keep costs down, slow since it only uses the ISD’s secondary maneuvering thrusters for propulsion, and smaller (~750-850 meters), but you can also tell that it’s the last thing the Rebels would want to see when they drop out of hyperspace. A big-ol’ gun that can one-shot you if you’re not nimble enough to evade. The monitor also acts as the perfect planetary siege weapon, because it can pound the surface without consuming the same level of resources as an ISD. As long as space superiority has been established, this monitor can just dish it out endlessly without fear of retaliation, just like the monitors in WWII. Definitely a cool concept.
Actually if you zoom in on the nozzles of the engines, they don’t have the same details as on the the secondary engines of the ISD. I think they are the secondary engines of the Gladiator & Provocator.

Assuming that big turret has a long range it could act as mobile artillery for fire support or orbital bombardment right?
Also does the large turret turn left & right or does it just aim forwards?
It looks like it’s a ball turret in an armored casemate, instead of a huge conventional turret. I’d guess it would have a 90 degree plus arc of fire left and right, and in elevation, but otherwise requiring the ship to be positioned. Perhaps the casemate can revolve a bit, but I’m not sure it can, and it would be a more involved process, I’m pretty sure. Fractal will correct me if I’m wrong.
I agree. WIP #1 also makes it clear that the ball turret within the casement is big – extending underneath it and taking up a lot of the casement’s volume – not leaving much room for it to have a reactor within the bulge as well.
I suspect that this ship is unlikely to have more total reactor space within than, say, a Victory Star Destroyer. So it’s probably not going to have a sustained energy rate that’s noticeably higher – and it might even be lower.
A VicStar delivers around 1.26 petatons per second, assuming all 18 of its 70 petaton guns can all fire once per second.
If this ship’s guns are each 1 petaton, and each fire once every 3 seconds at maximum rate – then that allows the ship to have a slightly weaker reactor than a VicStar, while still having a much higher 3 petaton alpha strike (all three guns making use of the ships capacitors to start the fight by all firing together at full power).
Plus, it can fire one shot per second by firing each gun in turn.
This version is fixed so limited traverse off the ball mount. The star dreadnought/planetary/battlestation version would have the dome rotate as well, and the ball mount for fine tracking.

I can’t really picture the size. Can we get it next to another ship that is about the same size
In the first WIP post from July 14, the turret and cannons are about the same length as a Lancer-class frigate, about 250 meters. That would make this ship about 850 meters (a little over 3 turrets long x 250 meters = ~850 meters).

I love that the gun overlaps with the reactor sphere. That’s such a simple way to suggest power. I’m also always impressed how many different good-looking variations on the wedge shape you can come up with.
Little big for a Pursuit…not to mention the giant cannons. But I would love to see his take on it. There is a lot of stuff that Carmine Infantino did way back in the Marvel Star Wars comics the Fractal would knock out of the park.

Thank you very much for the informations !
Is that going to be a hangar in the front?

Sorry, VicStar’s 18 guns are 70 teratons each.

The squared-off bow makes it look a bit like the Pursuit-class from Legends:
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Pursuit-class_light_cruiser
And the dish looks like that of the Vigil-class Corvette.
Good catch on the similarities between this ship and the Pursuit-class. I wonder if that’s what Fractal will dub this class.
