Last time the same class of weapon was discussed on stardestroyer.net (the Inexpugnable-class Old Republic battleship discussed) it was ballparked at somewhere between 1 and 2 petatons per shot. Not sure if the exact figure has been nailed down, or the exact maximum rate of fire for shots at maximum power.
In the “Mandator II Turret Refit” thread a figure is given of 2.88 petatons per barrel – 8.64 PT for all three barrels.
Limiting the rate of fire to 1 shot per 6 seconds (necessary to make the Turret Refit version of the Mandator the equal of the regular Mandator) would give the Star Monitor’s main battery a throw rate of 1.44 PT per second. For comparison – the similar-sized Victory has a throw rate of 1.26 PT per second if all 18 of its 70 teraton main guns are allowed to fire at 1 shot per second, which is standard for a heavy turbolaser.
Seems reasonable in context – Victory-sized ship (roughly) : only slightly above Victory-sized firepower.

Very rough estimate here, but the triple turbolaser is about 1/5th the length of the mile long ISD-II, so it’d put at approx. 320m. Similarly, the Star Monitor is roughly half the ISD, so ~800m. Basically the Imperial equivalent to a Munificent-class. Love the triple barrel.

Now this is something I can get behind, now I want to see a Star Wars version of the CSS Virgina. Also a question, when did the Star Monitor enter service with the Imperial Navy?

I bet those torpedo spheres, monitors and victory could take down even the strongest planetary shields!
10/10 absolute perfection once again

O.O holy hell it’s here, so going by the ship class (star monitor) i take it as a planetary defense ship or is it a guard ship, like how it’s depicted with the torpedo sphere?
I can’t wait to see it, if the defense monitor is smaller than this how would it stack up to star destroyers and larger star class, would it be used like the venator class (in episode 3 armed with composite beam and snips/artillery other ships from afar) or armed with lighter weapons and just relay on numbers i like this type of idea its similar to how Warhammer defense monitors work
In real life historical navies Monitor’s have one disproportionately big FUCK OFF gun as a main weapon, so I would assume it would be along those lines.
Amazing design, I assume its more for ground support/planetary bombardment rather than sitting and defending a world?
Beautiful
@Fractalsponge how powerful is the main gun

This is a siege monitor. Smaller system defense monitor coming up…

Same platform w/ weapon variant? Or new platform?

I’d imagine You could probably repurpose this siege monitor for defense purposes against larger vessels for long range standoff engagements.
Reminds me of the UK royal navy monitors from WW2
